Shipping & Returns

What do you charge for domestic US shipping?

US Shipping is free on all orders $25 or greater, otherwise it's $2.50.

Hey, didn't you used to offer free shipping on all orders?

Yes, I did. But, quite frankly ... it's gotten too expensive to continue that for the smallest orders. I'm sorry! But, free shipping on orders greater than $25 is still pretty darn good!

What if I want to get my yarns faster?

To guarantee your purchase ships via USPS Priority in the US, you can select Priority Shipping for US destinations for the following rates:

  • Small Flat Rate Box/Envelope = $4.95
  • Medium/Regular Flat Rate Box = $10.35
  • Large Flat Rate Box = $13.95

Selecting Priority shipping does not necessarily shorten handling time, which is described below.

What do you charge for International shipping?

I presently offer shipping to Canada, via USPS Priority International Flat Rate, the fees are:

  • Small Flat Rate Box/Envelope = $5.95
  • Medium/Regular Flat Rate Box = $20.95
  • Large Flat Rate Box = $37.95

International shipping to countries other than Canada is available via USPS Prioirty International Flat Rate, the fees are:

  • Small Flat Rate Box/Envelope = $15.00
  • Medium/Regular Flat Rate Box = $35.00
  • Large Flat Rate Box = $45.00

By what means do you ship?

Truth: The cheapest possible. If under 13 ounces, your items will ship via USPS First Class. If over, they'll go USPS Parcel Post or Priority Flat Rate. International shipments will arrive via USPS International Priority.

Shipment Notification & Tracking

All shipping methods come w/ tracking which you receive once your order is en route.

Shipping & Handling Times

Items in stock generally ship within 48-72 hours, seven days a week and often I pack your orders even on holidays. If your item is on backorder, you can expect your items to ship within 7-10 business days.

Do I accept returns?

Short answer. Yes. Absolutely! I will gladly exchange your items for something different or refund your money.

Seriously, you do?

Yes, of course! Life is too short to knit with yarn you don't like.

Are there any exceptions?

Yes, of course. You may only return yarn in its 100% original condition. You may not return yarn that has been used or damaged in anyway. All labels must be in tact, if you're going to return the yarn don't wind it or otherwise change the original put up (e.g. don't wind those hanks up into cakes).

Patterns may not be returned or exchanged for any reason. (Unless you received the wrong pattern or there is some horrible defect that I didn't catch.) Sorry folks, there are bad people out there that make photocopies of patterns then return them. That is bad news for all of us.

CLEARANCE items are final sale and may not be returned. "Why?" you ask? Because these items are on clearance to clear room on the shelves and get rid of older inventory. Thus, they're generally priced VERY aggressively, and are not eligible for refund or exchange. The only exception would be if an item was shipped incorrectly.

How long do I have to return an item?

Returns must be received within 60 days of the item's ship date.

How do I return yarn?

The best, safest route is to contact me at yarngirl@yarnlove.com and let me know that the return is coming. That way I'm watching for it. However, this is not a requirement.

In your return shipment, include your original receipt. If this is not available, a copy of your order email or any handwritten, typed or otherwise legible piece paper that has your order number, your billing and mailing information, your telephone number and or email is required. I know, I know that's so unreasonable, but I've received packages that contained yarn. That's it. I have to know who needs their money back, and I'm fresh out of crystal balls.

It is strongly recommended that you insure your return shipment and use a shipment method that provides tracking. (Note: The USPS has Tyvec Flat Rate Envelopes that will ship up to 70 lbs for only about $5.00 in the US. They will hold a LOT of yarn, and if your yarn arrived in one then it's the cheapest and fastest way to ship that yarn back to me.)

Your refund will be processed in the same fashion as the original payment. For example, if you paid via AmEx, you'll receive a credit to your AmEx. If you paid via PayPal, you'll receive a refund into your PayPal account. If you paid via check or money order, you will receive a check back in the mail.

A special note about PayPal refunds.

This often confuses people, so do read through PayPal policies if you're not familiar with them. But, here's basically how it works. Regardless of how you fund your PayPal account, if you pay via PayPal and request a refund, the funds will be deposited into your PayPal account. They are accessible to you for future use, via PayPal. If you used a credit card to fund your PayPal account, you will NOT see a credit on that card. Look in your PayPal account, that is where the funds are. I'm happy to answer questions to the extent possible on this. But, most should be directed to PayPal.

Shipping Charges are Non-Refundable

If you paid for shipping (e.g. an international customer or for some other special case), shipping charges will not be refunded.

Does Yarn Love pay for the return shipment?

No, I'm sorry, I don't. Except in very rare cases where we shipped the wrong item, the buyer is responsible for packaging and shipping on the return trip.
